The journey to Congo is long, but if you love nature you will be amazed by the beautiful hills of Rwanda, the beautiful forests along the way, and the monkeys that cross Nyungwe National Park.
Then use the Bunagana border to cross the Congo to the town of Bukavu near the Kauji-Seed National Park. Visitors arriving from Uganda cross the Congo via the Bunagana border near the town of Kisoro.
Overnight and dinner at the Orchid Safari Lodge (Luxury) or the Hotel Horizon (Midrange and Budget).
Day 2 of 3 Days Eastern Lowland Gorilla Trekking Tour in Congo: Kauji-Chase or Western Lowland Gorilla in Seed-Nature National Park / Community Walk.
The western lowland gorilla trek in Kahuzi Biega National Park begins with registration at the park office. Get up early, have breakfast, and go to the park office. After registration, you will be briefed on the rules to follow for lowland gorilla monitoring, what to expect, and the history of the park. Park authorities assign you to one of four regular groups of eastern lowland gorillas.
Expect to spend around four hours in the forest hunting for primates. Once found, you will only be together for an hour, so take the time to observe as much as possible. Don’t forget to take as many photos and videos as possible. The park contains species of mammals, monkeys, and other birds that you encounter while hunting for primates.
When you are ready, return to the starting point and the driver will accompany you to lunch and the shower. In the late afternoon, the driver will take you to a community center, Kipati waterfalls, Bukavu city, Mubayu tea plantations, or a nearby research center. Alternatively, you can take a hike to Kahuzi Biega National Park.
Overnight and dinner at the Orchid Safari Lodge (Luxury) or the Hotel Horizon (Midrange and Budget).
