Kahuzi-Biega National Park: The Kahuzi-Biega National Park is located in South Kivu, named after Mount Kahuzi and Mount Viega. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaujibiega National Park is known for its lowland gorilla trekking. Western lowland gorillas have long been threatened by poaching, but now the efforts of the government, conservationists, and other well-meaning people are proliferating. Unlike mountain gorillas, gorillas in the eastern lowlands are relatively easy to track. The Kahuzi Biega Gorilla Permit can be obtained with a strong warning, eliminating the need to travel long distances on steep mountain slopes. In addition to gorillas, Congolese wild safari visitors can visit elephants, chimpanzees, and many antelope species.

Where Else to go for Congo Safari?

Garamba National Park:

Although rarely visited, it is one of the largest national parks in Africa and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors on the park tour should expect stunning views of the endless African savannah and meadows. The park is home to giraffes, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and many bird species. Unfortunately, a surprising array of large mammals in the park are under threat from poaching. Salonga National Park:

Mount Nyiragongo:

Mount Nyiragongo illuminates the Goma and Virunga National Park. The last volcanic eruption occurred in 2011, with the ash spread over more than 100,000 homeless people and surroundings. The solidified lava mountains created the largest lake in the world, Crater Lake. The lake is still steaming in the air and attracts thousands of visitors every year. mt. Trekking to Nyiragongo is a two-day event where you sleep on a volcano after being rewarded with a breathtaking close-up view of a bubbling crater.

Lula ya Bonobo Shrine:

A fascinating place to visit in Kinshasa is the Lula ya Bonobo Shrine. Bonobos are endangered pygmy chimpanzees found only in the wild in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Bonobos are relatively peaceful compared to their larger cousins but are severely persecuted and hunted for meat. The reserve, which covers some 30 hectares of forest, helps protect children who are orphaned after the murder of an adult. Reserve staff and volunteers by feeding them and protecting them from being sold as pets in illegal markets.
